Poll: Trump and Clinton still lead in Florida, Bush dropping, Rubio on the rise

/

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton continue to hold strong leads among Florida primary voters, while former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is losing ground in the state and U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio is on the rise, according to the latest Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday.

Among Republicans, Trump has 28 percent support while neurosurgeon Ben Carson has 16 percent, Rubio 14 percent and Bush 12 percent.

And despite Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders' recent surge in early voting states, Clinton is far ahead in Florida's Democratic primary with 43 percent support compared to 19 percent for Sanders and 19 percent for Vice President Joe Biden, who is not a candidate at this point.

Rubio passed Bush for the first time in the Quinnipiac Poll, rising from 11 percent support on Aug. 20. Bush's poll number dropped by nearly a third in the state since August, dipping from 17 percent support.

This is the second Florida poll in the last two weeks showing Rubio performing better than Bush.
